ADDITIONAL DOWNLOADS - Not necessary but nice if you fly with traffic in other parts of the World. :: SEE THE BOARDS FOR FILES ::

STEP FIVE - Configure your machine and network.

Before you start your pilot client and flight sim it will be necessary to make sure you've configured your home network, router, ports, firewall and virus scanner if applicable.

** If you are connected directly to the internet (No Router) this part of the setup may still apply to you. Please read all items and make sure they don't apply before continuing.

** CRITICAL - Home Networks should have individual IPs assigned to each machine on the network. This is important so that each time you start your machine your local IP (LAN) remains the same. This step also provides the best setup of your LAN. You should be configured this way even if you don't use this software. If you do not know how to setup your home network go here :: SHOW ME HOW ::

Additional help can be found in your hardware or software manual, or by visiting this great resource on setting up routers - visit: http://www.portforward.com/

** CRITICAL - The following ports must be allowed access to the internet (WAN) at all times while connected to our network. Ports may need to be configured in your Firewall (Software) or Router (Hardware). The port settings are as follows:

PORT
TYPE
15000
UDP (Inbound / Outbound)
15830
TCP (Inbound / Outbound)
15400
UDP (Inbound / Outbound)
15810
TCP (Inbound / Outbound)

** IMPORTANT - If you use a virus scanner it is highly recommended that you research the software's documentation to allow your root flight sim directory and the root flight project directory. This will help your machine perform at optimal levels while online. Because of the high rate of data being used between these two directories excluding them from the virus scanner means the virus scanner isn't running full speed in the background to keep up with your flight sim. EXCLUDE THEM!

** IMPORTANT - If you've installed earlier versions of SquawkBox for VATSIM (Not SB3) you must use the "Add / Remove Software" feature in your control panel to remove older versions. Locate versions of SquawkBox and uninstall them (SB3 is fine to leave). Once you've done this check your aircraft directory in flight sim to make sure you don't have a directory called (csl). This is the old SquawkBox models, you must remove this file directory, it is not compatible with this software. Please check if you're unsure, if you don't see the directory please continue.

** IMPORTANT - Download and save the ATOC Pilot Client Manual. This software is full of features and is a very powerful tool when used to it's full potential. We recommend that everyone read the manual to get familiar with all the features and it's use. Don't be left at the gate because your friends know all the tricks.

ATOC Pilot Client User Manual

Instructions: Download Manual and read.

There are two locations to download the ATOC Pilot Client User Manual below. Both locations will give you the same file, you only need to download the file from one location. Depending on the current server demand one location may be faster than the other.

STEP SIX - Starting Flight Sim and the ATOC Pilot Client

  1. Start flight sim.
  2. Next create a flight and choose "FLY NOW" to get on the ground at your gate or parking area. **IMPORTANT** You must be in the cockpit mode (2D) not outside the aircraft in a view mode to continue.
  3. Next create a Host session in flight sim. You do this in the multiplayer area. (You need to be in window mode so you see the menu at the top of flight sim, you can go back to fullscreen after you are connected.) Choose "Flights" > "Multiplayer" > "Connect" > "Host" - as if you are going to HOST a session on your local machine that the ATOC Pilot Client can join. Make sure that you have 16 max pilot and 0 max observers selected name the session anything you like. Also confirm that the default port is set to 23456 in the "Host Settings" Area.
  4. Click the OK button to host a local session and you'll be back in the cockpit.
  5. Now press SHIFT + TAB and the client will appear. This may take a few seconds depending on your machine.
  6. When the ATOC Pilot Client appears enter your callsign in the big box in the middle by clicking your mouse there and typing it in. This is the callsign we will see as on the server and in multiplayer.
  7. Click the Server button on the client and this will connect you to the server.
  8. Thats it. For more information on the functions of the buttons on the ATOC Client download and read through the Manual. :: GET THE MANUAL ::
